This is just for fun, but it's a good example of the principle behind the new series, "Sublimation."
Synonyms for "sublimation" are "ennoblement" or "refinement." The idea is to photograph something mundane (or even ugly) only for its shapes, patterns, and textures, then "ennoble" it.
Usually, I do no more than push the contrast hard to bring out what before was hidden. But sometimes, as in this case, I do more than that (such as inverting the colors).
Most mornings I put a few slabs of butter in a frying pan. On this day, the chance arrangement caught my eye, so I briefly exchanged my chef's hat for my photographer's hat.
